Above: East Coast in Ireland
On the east coast is the Irish Sea, almost surrounded by land, and having all the countries of the British Islands on its shores. It is joined to the Atlantic by St. George’s Channel on the south, and by the North Channel on the north. Belfast Lough, between County Antrim and County Down, has a great deal of shipping traffic, starting from Belfast, both for Scotland and England.
Strangford Lough, in County Down , is a wide and shallow inland sea readied by a
narrow strait.

Howth Head commands the entrance to Dublin Bay. It rises to a height of 560 feet, and presents splendid sea cliffs nearly the whole way round. Wicklow Head is a rocky cape 268 feet high.
